I just spoke with Charlie Wheatley and ordered the tune since I've decided to just roll with the engine I've got and hope for the best. I got a pretty good fuzzy after talking to the construction company that it was well maintained.
Zippy -
I drive an average of 2,000 - 2,500 miles per week with an average of 5 or 6 fillups. I've noticed an average of $.50 difference from 87 to 93 in the area I cover. That's how I get close to $100 difference a week. Give or take $5 or $10.

see, I told you. There's no way in hell you're getting a 9000 mile LQ9 for $1000. Good 05+ LQ9's go for 2000 plus all day. Trust me when I say that using an 05+ LQ4 is outstanding. The single difference is the lower compression which is a 10HP difference. Not even noticeable. Plus, they are about $500 cheaper.
Im on the hunt for a 05+ LQ9 as well.. Anyone know off hand how much a new LQ9 long block is from GM?

What do you expect? You're comparing a new, warrantied engine to a used non-warrantied engine. Go with the used one hands down. I would highly recommend Schram Autoparts from what I've seen. I learned my lesson. When buying a used engine don't skimp out. One from Schram may cost $2500, but it will be packaged perfectly, have all parts, and it will have been removed from the vehicle professionally. Anything less is just a crapshoot.
