Man, your having fits with this motor swap aren't you. I only by from salvage yards I know, and I know several since I was in the business for several years.
The main one I buy parts from tests everything. They start the motors and let the run, then give them several revs to see if they smoke or knock. If anything is the least bit off, the motor is stripped and used for a core. It will be written on the windshield in big letters, good engine and good trans, or bad engine and bad trans, or whatever it maybe. If it can't be tested, it will only be sold for a core. They are on ebay shrumparts.

The motor arrived this evening and I believe i finally have a good motor. Big thanks to Tom at Bessler Auto in Wilder, Ky for coming through for me. The motor was delivered as he said. All of the electrical connections were unclipped and the wiring harness was complete. I have to admit having never dealt with them before I was skeptical but it all worked out.
It is a 2007(technically 2006) LQ4 from a Hummer H2 with 15,000 miles. The truck had an interior fire and no damage at all to the motor. Immediately though I see a difference in the in the waterpump compared to what is in my Silverado. Apparently the Hummers have the E-fans as this one is without the fan blades. Charlie turned on the option for E-fans in my tune...may have to get the fans now just because.

Thanks. I am very happy now and excited about the swap again.
Maybe I'll even throw on the S&S longtubes I've had since last spring? But that means hacking into the y-pipe, IIRC.

Thanks Charlie. I did send you a PM about the PCM but I am sure you have more than a few in your inbox.
It's looking like I will try again for the swap at the end of the month.
