Used Engines-Where to Buy
#101
I bought this car Feb 2019, then the world shut down, my cat got cancer (and has since died ), I had that stupid reluctor wheel issue, then that motor blew up, then I bought more stuff and the new motor had a problem
And blah blah
Anyway, today was a big day. Some drama, but lets focus on the good **** here!
Today, I finally made this car mine, according to the paperwork aha
As a little homage to my bestest boi, ya'll wished for a Corvette bed as a kid?? He had a real Corvette as a bed ahaha. He enjoyed his last meal of shredded chicken (Popeye's was his fav actually) on top of this car, so to say that this car is special to me would be putting it lightly
And blah blah

Funny how your pet always knows what means the most to you besides them. I fed my last lab McDonald’s for a month so I understand the Popeyes.

There's a scratch on my center console from him moving around in the car that at first kinda bugged me because the leather was brand new at the time- but when I drove the car last night for fuel, I saw the scratch and I was like "hey buddy, let's go for a drive 🩶"
I am sorry about your lab, putting my lab/pit mix down May of 2012 was the second hardest thing I have ever done. Nothing breaks your heart like losing a pet. I hope you're doing ok man!

She is gone but far from forgotten…
Had to get 2 to fill the void she left. Got sisters a black and a chocolate labs, 2 puppies at once wasn’t fun. My wife and I questioned our sanity several times but our son couldn’t have been happier so it was worth the hell they put is thru. Sorry for the loss of your buddy, I really have no words for it. I’ve lost people and pets and I hate to say it but I’ve been more upset about my dogs than most people even my mom…

went out last night, in an effort to get to 500mi asap lol. @Summitracing was NOT kidding when they describe the 8721r1 cam as "7500+ rpm" This girl wants to ruuuuuuuuun up top. Love it 🩶
Of course gapped the Grand Sport, we all saw that coming 😉
But the 300zx makes 596rwhp on ethanol and he got the gap too! With me shifting at 6k lmao. He was hurt, threatened to sell it and build a C5 instead. Told him that's the best idea he's ever had aha
idle tuning and below 2k tuning still need work, meeting with tuner today to work thru some of that

Did more tuning, below 2k is still surge'y. We think it might just be an artifact of fat boi cam. Idle is 2000000% better. Much happier with idle now. She is very rowdy
No dyno yet, but we are still nosing over at ~6k (old combo did as well). AFR's go rich at ~6200. Running the cam out to 7200 sounds great, but it "feels" faster to shift at 6500 than to run it out. I'll need to look at the logs to verify, but I think we are probably still seeing vacuum at redline. The current assumption is that I am out flowing the stock LS3 manifold. Looking at options to find improvements there. Good thing I didn't build her to be a daily driver aha
Couple more my buddy sent me after editing

Changed the engine and diff oils last night. Have about 290mi on her so far. Used the Valvoline VR1 20w50 and that oil is legit. Engine is actually much quieter at idle now, and I didn't think it was even loud before. Sounds great, much pleased
The 10w30 that came out was like a dark amber, but I was seeing ~28psi hot idle after cooking the oil to 302° (DIC reading). So def stepping up my game and adding the oil cooler this weekend too
