Default Vacuum port and Chiltons

My custom CAI has been giving me fits lately, but I think I've got it figured out. Anyway, while look for a place to check manifold vacuum to see if I had a leak, I saw this funny looking fitting on the pasenger side of the manifold.

On page 2C-4 of my Chilton's manual it shows some cat checking the manifold pressure at this point. I have no port there, just some funny looking fitting. Are you suppose to break part of this off to reveal the port, like those "Squeeze It" fruit drinks? Or is this a vacuum port for the CA smog equipment? Mine looks just like the picture, except it has some type plug on it. I would love to use this port, but I don't want to break the plug off and have to ghetto rig a rubber nipple for it....unless that's what you're supposed to do.

Yes its flat. So what happens once I break it off. Will there be a hole there? Hehehe. Do just throw a rubber nipple over it to cap it off when I'm done with the vacuum guage?

Yea, I used that same port for my vacuum guage...just snapped the end off of it and slid a vacuum hose on to it. I saw that same picture of the dude checking manifold vacuum in my Haynes manual.
