Valvetrain noise
It seems to me that the "shik shik shik shik shik" I have always had from the passenger side valve cover area is getting a bit louder and more pronounced. It isn't a hard metal on metal sound but more like a very pronounced spring somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd cyliner back on the right side.
I'm a tweaker when it comes to small details and this is driving me batty. The driver's side is very nice and quiet, ok, normal sounding at least!
I'm thinking I can pull the valve covers but not sure what i'd be looking for once there. What do you think?

what sprigns are you running?
pull valve cover off, loosen and remove the rocker arms. look at al lthe springs and see if any are broke or cracked.
also look at the alignment of all the valve stems to make sure none of them might be possible bent.
if all looks good a lifter might be going south on you which then results top end tear down

No signs of a header leak, that was the first thing I thought of but I've had one before and this is a very different sound. It's not a tap tap tap , it has more fluidity to it, like Sshlik sshlik shlik that increases speed with rpm but doesn't get too much louder.
