IMO. Its just the 918s. Sport Side moved to Patriot golds (if im not mistaken) and that did the trick. Take it from me, i spent a **** ton of money trying to fix it and to no avail. I have a totally different motor, heads, and lifters and im here to tell you that its just the springs. I still have the shik sound to this day. Next springs i get will be patriots though.

Manley valve srpings are the quietest ones I have ever heard. I put them on randomhero's truck and the valvetrain noise is STOCK, patriots are decently quieter then the 918s, 915s are a little quieter then the 918s, the damn 918s are just flat out loud. I dont understand why either, the springs on my old DART heads were pretty damn quiet too and they were a stiffer beehive spring. When you pull that valve covers get a tq wrench and set it to 22ft-lbs if any of the bolts holding any o the rockers down comes loose before it clicks then you found the problem. A rocker not properly tq'ed wont preload the lifter enough causing the lifter to bouncing off the lobe or cause the internal spring of the lifter to compress a decompress more then it should. If a spring isnt broken its damn hard to tell if its cracked. Just get you a set of edelbrock 5.3 heads from WCCH with dual extremes on there, with some new lifters and call it good

You may be correct.

Rick didn't think it warranted any concern, that it was 'normal' and not to worry. I'm not as certain but what do I know?
The sound is louder when I first start the engine (warm) and quiets down as oil starts to circulate which makes me think lifter but I'm not too worried, more like irritated by the noise. I think i'll still pull the covers and check the rockers as soon as I can.

When we started mine up for the first time 2 days ago, it was doing the SAME thing. I thought it was a header leak also, so I checked em, they were fine. Then started it back up, and let it idle for a sec, and the noise got quieter. I had a buddy come over that did the head work, and put them together, and he said it was just the 918's. I asked him why was it louder on the back drivers side, and he said I need to stop worrying! I too am **** about noises!
