This is some info that was posted by an 8.1 owner -
Ok here is my report on the system. I drove from Maine down to VA and back in one weekend. Bushgardens and kingsdimion are so much fun... Well first the power increase is great. It makes the motor slightly louder(sounds better IMO)... Well for MPG. Use to get 13's to maybe 14 light footing it around. First tank I filled in NJ I got 14's... Not bad.. I was kinda hoping better. Next tank in VA I hit 15's... Now were talking... So the return trip I stopped in NJ once again and hit 16mpg!!!!!! Now this is not the most exact way to tell. Its hard to get the exact same level in the tank. I think my true MPG is in the high 15's... So 2MPG increase more power.... This was with cruise set at 70MPH... Thats what I always drive anyway.

It looks like the fit is a lot better... Hmmm... I've been looking for an intake lately, I may have to seriously look into VR again.
OT: What grille are you running KSZ71? I love that look.

One 90* bend in piping flows the equivalent of 10 feet of piping the same diameter.
Someone needs to make an intake that...****, lets see an 8 barrel intake that shoots air straight to the intake valve, with some minor head adjustments.

sweet.
I've got some cool magazines about intake flow.
I'd love to call up a shop and get a max effort head job with some sort of custom barrel intake almost straight to the valve. With a 408 underneath, you could really kick some butt.

Thanks! It is a Street Scene (SS) Stainless. Got it at Chux Trux here in KC. Stylin'concepts.com also sells them.
It sure gets a lot of looks from other guys driving tahoes around here. It clips onto the original grille (installs in under an hour).
