Default Victor Jr. COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!

Like the title says, The Wood Hauler's Victor Jr./4bbl TB setup is DONE. FINALLY. It was not that bad really, just been held up waiting on a fuel injector. It has not been completely tuned but I did create a good baseline tune (a bit rich). The TPS reads the same as the stock one, his floor mat would only allow 97%, but it's going WOT. Throttle feel is a bit stiffer, but not too much at all. I have the Idle screw all the way closed (throttle fully closed) and it Idles about 850 rpms. I can't get the idle any lower than that though, I have checked for vaccum leaks already and there are none. Maybe just something with that TB???? Some Idle airflow tuning was required, as in I had to lower some airflow tables , but it drives great now, rpms don't hang, they follow the movement of the pedal identically. Transitions from driving to stopping are perfect, no buck, no dieing, no cruising, just a smooth transition.

And most importantly, the SOTP results: PULLS LIKE A RAPED APE! Used to feel stronger after the shift at about 6200 cause it was just tapped for air, NOT ANYMORE! Sweet spot is 6700, pulls harder and harder all the way to about 6500 and at 6800 it starts to lay over some, because of the cam though(233/239), airflow is defineltly not a problem. Lost no low end torque at all, actually I punched it from about 40 and it only went down to 2nd gear and it still spun some. Like I said, it feel great shifting at 6700, drops to about 5400-5500. 5000 rpms and up feels totally different, almost like a 75 shot would've before. All I have left to do is AutoVe tune it and thats it. It will be recieving a set of worked 317's in the future as well.

This swap is really straight forward, and a great alternative for the cable driven tb, truck guys.

Dynomite job chief! I'm very impressed to see you get done in relative short order. No suprise that the engine pulls hard up to 6700rpms. What a great swap for a true performance mod with a bit of old school look.
I don't recall if the ttb has a hidden adjusting screw for the secondary butterflies, but you might try looking at the ttb base flange. It may be that the additional airflow is coming from the rear blades.
Now I can't wait to see how it runs at the track.
The new heads should really help out with the upper rpm power.

Good luck with this project and thanks for posting your experiences for us.

The heads are also gonna be milled a bit to raise the compression from about 10:1 to maybe 10.8:1 or around there. Planning on .040"-.045" mill and thinner gaskets, it has .051" gaskets now with factory 72-73 cc heads.
The only other notable difference between the swap is the IAT with the aluminum manifold. There is a little soak when you pull up to get gas or something, and cut it off for a few min. And the IAT's raised about 10-15* above when it was located in the MAF. the increased temps are well worth the additional pull though!

873??? Iron LQ4 Heads. Money ran out when building the 408, and something had to get left out, decided to do a good solid shortblock with the intent of doing heads on down the road. They should also provide a nice gain.

I will get a video tomorrow maybe.
