I bet with that intake, a much bigger cam and some better heads that thing would like being in the mid 7000s from what the guys on tech are doing with 408s.

I've got a feeling that's about where mine's gonna be once I get some heads and a VicJr on mine.

A cam swap was talked about, but I wanna see how this setup performs with the 317's on there and these iron heads in the trash.

Mid 7000's are great, but peak power don't mean that much to me. I care more about average power over the entire band.

I agree ... I'm thinking more and more I may be a little overcammed.

Yeah flyer, the way I looked ate it is, it pulls progressivly harder to 6500, I wanted the shhifts around 6600-6700. So that tells me to make more upper power and extend the rpm range, it will take away from the bottom end; I don't want to do that, this thing is gonna have GOOD 60's and plenty of power to 6600-6700. I am interested in seeing how much a set of mildly worked 317's milled is gonna help over the iron heads. Right now it's about 10:1 and the iron heads are not milled at all. I am going to have the 317's milled about .040~.045" and go from the .051" Cometics it has now to probably something like a .040 ish gasket. That should put the compession up closer to 10.8 or so.

BTW, you mentioned hwy 64... where are you at?

I live in Helena, Ar, about 1.5 hours south of Memphis. I go there all the time. I'm assuming you live near LR if you're talkin about polk. A buddy of mine is gettin a port and polish job done on his evo8 there. I've heard mixed reviews about that place. You'll have to bring the beast down to Air Park and run with some built camaros and such. There's a guy that has a twin turbo cobra and it's amazingly fast. 1000+ whp on race gas, 700-900 (can't remember) on pump gas.

I'm from Marianna and still have lots of friends in Marianna and the surrounding area! I know a few guys from Helena and have an aunt that lives down there. Polk Performance sucks, we'll be going to Dynospeed when its dyno time. We are talking about coming down to Marianna soon and making a trip out to the levee, if you've ever been out there or heard of it.

Not sure about the levee, but we go down off highway 20 to a strip of pavement that we mark off 1/4 mile. Pretty straight, smooth road. Not many "fast" cars around here anymore. Most folks from Forrest City don't like Helena folks because of one particular person, which you might know and I won't say his name over here. Let me know whenever you decide to come back down. I wanna see this beast!

Oh yeah, and Dynospeed is a great place. Forrest is cool as a fan.
