Default Volant intake question

Looking at adding an air intake to the tahoe but not sure which one to go with. Anybody using the Volant with the ram air kit? Is there any noticeable difference between it and the non-ram air? What about the King cobra kit? I just think that the ram air kit for it looks cheesy, so it would be the non ram air kit I would look at. Any comments?

Bought the Volant on the Tbyrne GP. The fit was amazing - actually had to really slide the couplers all-all the way on so it would fit. IT is really snug and looks great. SOTP is there - can't say I boil the tires now but feels good. As far as King Cobra - no clue.

What other mods do you have? What size engine? Do you have ram air addition too?

5.3 I've been watching those threads. I was wondering if anybody is using the ram air kit for the Volant.

Mine's is not the ram-air, although it has a scoop goingfrom the bottom of the box down to draw cold air in. I just have a 5.3 tahoe with no other mods - TC in the next few weeks as well as new fans.

Volant looks clean. My K&N seems to have given me a little increase and the sound is good...reminds me of a 4bbl without an air cleaner.

I had a Volant and actually wasnt impressed by it for the price.
I've had a UPD, a volant, and a K&N FIPK, and out of all of them I liked the K&N the most, even if people say that the UPD puts down more power.

The UPD does fit like ****, the Volant is way overpriced for what you get, and the K&N may have some heat soak problems due to the open filter, but hell how hot does your engine bay get regardless.

Yeah, the heat issue...mine has the chrome tube which probably adds to that problem. I had a 2.2 Sonoma that increased 3 mpg with a K&N drop-in...relationship between that and hp,I don't know.
