also i have 317 heads on it i was thinking of going with 799 heads for compression but do they flow as well as 317 and have the same size valves, i was thinking going with 799s going with bigger valves and porting them to a truck intake with a 4 bolt tb

I'd look around for a good set of used ported 243s/799s. I wouldn't buy them w/o a flow sheet though. I've seen some great deals on used heads, ported stock castings and aftermarket castings.

Definitely on the right track with a 90mm intake. Whether it be a tbss or nnbs. Ive read threads where people ported these intakes and showed big gains. Like fast intake gains.

I was going to run some t.e.a. ported 243s on my lq9. After totaling up the cost of buying cores, shipping to t.e.a., having them ported, shipping them to me; It was the same money a friend of mine was asking for a set of used afr225s with new pac springs. So I went with the afr's.

This is what my truck did on a dyno with a larger cam in a lq9 with stock 317s: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...esults-472581/

Very soon, I'm gonna pull the heads, intake and TB to give a little massaging to and hopefully hit 425-430rwhp.

My truck runs 12.7 rolling off the line. I have a pretty small cam and at the time i had a 3200 278mm converter. The rest of the mods are in my sig. I bet my little lq9 puts down 360-370ish.

things just changed i found a set of 243 heads for $450 couldn't pass them up i think i might have those worked on bigger valves porting and port match intake and headers I found a shop localy they have a good price it was $860 for my 317 heads, already have valve springs, i need to do more research into them but they seemed to be prety knowlegeable next step is to get that tbss intake i'll be able to buy one next friday, and the cam change is a must I realy like that TR-224 112 lsa with 560 lift also i know i need a converter box for the throttle body but will the MAFF plug in or do i need an adapter for that don't see the poing in bigger tb without MAFF to match
