Want to Make tranny stronger?????
I recently bought a 2000 silverado and with a whipple. Everytime i would go full throttle it would hit the rev limiter and would not shift until i would let go of the gas. I found out that the shift points had been moved with a power programmer and the programmer was lost. Today i took to the Chevy dealership and had them reflash my computer. It worked and now my it shift smooth. The only thing i dont like is that it shifts to mushy. I also want to know what i can do to make this tranny stronger because i will be getting a torque converter in the near future? I want to make sure the tranny is strong. Can you guys give me list on parts and price of parts and where to get them i would be very greatfull.

Well I'm not sure how exactly to make your transmission stronger, But I know you can get it rebuilt at a transmission shop with the higher strength parts (built transmission) I'm not sure of the price but somebody could probably chime in and give you a ballpark. A shift kit and some servos would help firm it up a whole lot. I just had a transgo shift kit and a vette servo put in yesterday and it barks the tires when shifting into 2nd and the 3-4 shift feels very nice. It shifts a little too firm for everyday driving for my taste, but I'm going to get the tune changed from firm all the time to firm at Wot only, that should soften it under part throttle. The TC will soften the 1-2 shift under part throttle as well. I also had a metal accumulator piston put in to replace the plastic one, I think it holds line pressure and just has the ability to hold more pressure than the plastic one, it was about $20
Shift kit=300-400ish installed
vette servo=20 bucks or so, they'll install it at the same time as the shift kit
Hope this helps,
Ryan

You are eventually going to need a built tranny if you are planning on running a good amount of boost. The FLP 4L65 level 5 that Im going with is $2500 plus core. Ive heard they have great customer service and are very confident in their tranny's strength. I dont plan to ever get more than 450rwhp, but Im using a centrifugal which is easier on tranny's they say.

It's for a 4L65E but I'm sure most of the parts will fit, ask for Joe, he really know his stuff for gm transmissions.
