theres a lot you can do with the 8.1 to give it some power. It also depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I have the corsa system as well but are you running the catbacks and do you have the stock headers? Changing the headers helps quite a bit to the 8.1 For a supercharger i'd go kenne bell over whipple they're fuel system/programming is better, I don't know about Paxton but I know they make a kit for the 8.1 as well. There is lots of potential for the engine just have to decide what you want to go with but I'd definately recommend the raylar aluminum heads, the other guy's headers, and if you have more cash to burn the raylar BigPower intake manifold really gives it some kick as well. COMP and Raylar also makes good cams for the 8.1. Good luck and I hope this helped.

Not to hijack your thread...ChevySSandChevy8.1...got any pics of your 8.1?dyno runs?time slips? very curious on what that thing can do.

Back on topic...I went the Whipple route and am more than happy with it...I really think they have changed their programming, or the 8.1 kits do not have the problems of the 4.8/5.3/6.0 kits..mine has been running flawlessly...no KR..a/f spot on...maybe I got lucky.

I have heard of a few that had problems with Whipple's going into power reduction at part throttle but only on the Allison equipped trucks. That was when they first released the kit they probably got it fixed a long time ago.

Yea give us the run down ChevySSandChevy8.1

I last got a dyno done after the headers, the corsa system, the raylar heads and the intake manifold and comp cam, and old wester tune. The truck dynoed 541 bhp at about 4700 rpm and the 572 ft/lbs torque at about 4000 rpm. I haven't brought it to dyno since the other upgrades but I estimate that the kenne bell will only give about a 110 bhp and 150 rw torque to the truck, even though they claim higher, but i'd have to give it a run. I was gonna bring it to the track after getting it dynoes but I had piston problems with the truck and had to upgrade to raylar big power pistons. If you are going to mod your 8.1 you should change the pistons!! they are notorius for crapping out on you. ...8.1HD... what was your boost with the whipple system? I do not have time slips cause the truck hasn't made it to the track, but I will take pictures and host them this weekend. Its an ext cab 4x4 with 4180E trans 410 gears. What gears are you running? ...F8L Z71... I've seen vids of your truck that thing is sweet. and the setup was really expensive.

Did you mean 541 rwhp... and how did it peak at 3700 rpms while ur torque peaked at 4000.... thats mathamaticly impossible, did you mean 4700 or 5700 rpms?....
