From experience, 5.3's are very durable...so far there haven't been any problems with mine and i like to ragg on it quite a bit, as well as some of my friends...if you've seen the videos i've posted you'd know... I've been told that the weakest point of a chevy truck is the tranny, upgrading components on your transmission would be a very good thing...But upgrading your engine parts would be good as well, just depends how much you're willing to go and how deep you pockets go...this gets expensive after a while

Go to the hemi forum for those failures
go to the dodge forum for ALL failures. **** dodge.
at my old dealerhsip 80% of truck engine swaps were dodge (low mileage too), 15% was ford, the other 5% were 305s, 350s and 4.3's, ZERO% were genIII V8s.
i'm not a trash talker but this is the only exception. lol

Well Just To Say I Have Turn My 5.3 74oo Alot No Problems With Rod R Main Bearings.
But I Have Seen Rods Break On A 5.3 Looked Good To With Half The Rod Hanging Out Of The Block

Would you claim the failure you seen was do to OE rod bolts?
