I counted 4 planets, but saw 5 on the invoice....

Wowie Zowie, I certainly want to find out what happens with this.

don't get this invoice dirty but i would go over the trans to see what else they did not put in that they charged you for.
would be a crying shame if all they did is a **** kit and a filter change for 3000.00

Just an FYI, I am not sure what planetary you broke. I know that there is a front and a rear, and I THINK only the front comes in a 5 gear up-grade. It almost looks like the output shaft gave up and casued the planetary to fail, but who knows..... Go Get Em'

Looks like my last 60-E!

Angry

4L60E Extreme Duty rear planet with 5 pinion gears. These two planet gears (19X and 19XX) are twenty years past due, this has always been a weak point on the 700R4 transmissions. These are new 4L65E OEM planet gears, not after market or GM rejects. These 5 pinion 2002 type GM gears are at least 25% stronger than the old type. The use of five pinion gears for the input and reaction gear sets spreads the torque load so that less of the load is held by any one gear. These gears are made of powdered metal, which GM claims allows for a higher overall strength

got that off a tranny sight. rear planets. ill be giving them a phone call today. now i did break the output shaft before. i guess when they went back they knew it was going to go out of warranty soon and didnt care. im sure it will be a battle but i am going to give it my best shot. i still think it is bullshit that this is what they did.

there should be two sets of 5 pinion planetaries. the most common to break though is the lower. that 4 pinion in there that they charged you for a 5 pinion, not cool. i bet there is more not right about that. time to get some money out of their *** and ruin their name. here's a pic of what you should have seen...

here's why i went to the 5 pinion in that trans.
