Default Went try the new converter last night.....

Well, as I predicted, the tt3000 isn't nearly as aggressive as the vig.2800. A friend let me borrow his 27''m/t sportsman's. Seems that this converter launches best from an idle. With 24 psi in the radials I was pulling 1.88-1.89 60' every pass. Best run of the night was a 13.26, 1.88 60', 100.8x mph. The worst was a 13.36, 1.89 60', 102.7x mph. More mph b/c I had the tail gate on ???? I might go back tomorrow and try some 26'' tires- I believe this will help my 60' and overall e.t..
I was getting my *** busted by two extended cabs w/6.0's One was a good friend that I work with run 13.19 with a cam. Another was a friend with cam, valve job, and trailblazer converter run 12.89 on radials And the other was one of them new chevy's that come with the 6.0 in a 1500 series with the chrome twenties, he took them off though, with a cam and trailblazer converter he run 13.31. Those two guys work together at a dealership so we gotta keep our eye on them. So watch for them at the shootout!!!

Try launching that thing from about 1500 rpm. It seems like somewhere between 1000-1500 is where I got the best results from.

What mods did you have when you ran that 12.81?

Bringing mine up to about 1K then flashing it seems to give me the best results.

I tried bring it to 1000 and 1500 and it went 1.89, left from idle and went 1.88 twice back to back. What does yours actually flash to? I watched mine as I was launching and it starts pulling around 2500 as with the vig., it shot to 3000 then took off. I guess I shouldn't compare the two being the PI is a 9.5'' and has no towing capacity.
derek- The only changes i've made since then is the converter and extended my exhaust from turndowns over the axle, back a ways, and downsized to 2 1/2'' tubing. Currently running no cut outs. The weather done the rest.

Damn, you're only getting 2500 out of the 3K?

I've been "stalling" on getting my converter installed lately, because the more attention I pay to my takeoffs, the more I realize I only spend a split second in the low 2K range.

I'm thinking of going bigger than the 2600.

I think he was saying it will footbrake to 2500 and actuall flash 3000.

My first one flashed about the same as yours but since I had it tweeked a little more when I sent it back after my tranny fiasco, it flashes ~3200 on motor and ~3400 on the spray.

marc.. I was originally going to go with the 2600 myself cause I didnt want a loose converter in my daily driver. I am glad I went with the 3000 though cause I really like it.

Brakestall vs flash... Okay - it would make more sense if it was only brakestalling to 2.5K - I just took it as though it were only flashing that high on takeoff...

That's cool you like the 3K.. I'm kind of kicking myself right now for not going with it. I'm in a bit of a different frame of mind since digging into the motor just a bit here and 'closely' looking at what's happening when I launch.

I know this has been asked thousands of times, but refresh me... How is the 3K around town at light throttle?

I should really just put the 2.6K in and be done with it. It's only 400rpm's and one or two tenths on the STR.

the tt3000 is a heavy converter compared to the p.i.
