West Coast Heads For 5.3
west coast offers 3 different head configurations
1) 2 port program. Valve sizes 1.94 in., 1.57 ex. 63cc chamber. Flow ratings with a .600" lift: 305 cfm intake, 223 cfm exhaust. Fits bores up to 3.78".
2) Stage 2 port program. Valve sizes 2.02 in., 1.57 ex. 66cc chamber. Flow ratings with a .600" lift: 305 cfm intake, 223 cfm exhaust. Fits bores up to 3.90".
3) Stage 2 port program. Valve sizes 2.02 in., 1.57 ex. 70cc chamber. Flow ratings with a .600" lift: 293 cfm intake, 223 cfm exhaust. Fits bores up to 3.90".
WHICH IS WHICH TO BETTER SUIT A 5.3 IN DESPERATE NEED OF POWER. WHAT OTHER PARTS SHOULD BE ADDED OR REPLACED IF I DROP A SET OF THESE HEADS IN?

The 5.3 has a smaller 3.78" bore that partially shrouds the bigger 2.02 intake valves,so they are listing a head with a 1.94" for the 5.3 displacement motor. You have to remember that most of their 5.3 heads are probably being used on larger displacement motors to increase the compression ratio due to the fact they have a smaller combustion chamber.

I sent my heads to West Coast Racing Cylinder Heads last fall for a StageII job. The quality of work is first rate as are the performance gains. I would highly recommend their CNC skills. The turn around time is short and you can save a few dollars if you send them parts. I shipped some CC 918s with my heads and they installed Manley SS valves. I saved a few dollars by doing it that way, but they can do the heads complete if you want. Either way their prices are quite reasonable.
