Talking Wester's Tune Results

I've had a Wester's Garage 89/93 tune in my truck for a year and it's been great. Everything you always hear about the Wester's tunes was true and then some !! Awesome throttle response, crisp shifts, and a ton more power. Well, I traded up to a new 91/93 tune, and all I can say is WOW!!!

Everything the old tune was and more. I've shaved 1.2 seconds and gained 6mph in the 1/4. The truck is stock except for a Volant cai and the Wester's tune. Went from 17.19 to 15.86 . Not bad for near-6000lbs of crewcab... OH- and this was with only 5 miles on the new cpu- not even broken in yet !!!! 60' time went from 2.45 to 2.26 (these numbers are all stock to 91/93 tune)

And my mileage went up, too !!! I don't have a solid number on that yet, but when I went to the track on the old tune, I drove totally mellow, cruise set at 74 or so, no hotroddin' at all. On the way home after putting the new tune in, cruise set at 80 but mostly ran 85+, made a few blasts up to 100.... still pulled down .6mpg BETTER than the trip out. And I also see my instant mpg hovering in MUCH higher numbers than I've ever seen. I'm confident there's another 2mpg there once I check it.

And I got it up to 120 on the ride back and it was still pulling !! Stock, I had it to 101 once, but it kinda labored to get there. Now, it gets to 110 easily, 115 not to bad, but I could really start feeling the air at 118~120. But, again, not bad for a stock crew...

Anyway, thought I'd share. The truck is so damn fun to drive now (and I was goofy about my old tune !!), I might not get a decent mpg number for a month !!

Yeah, Nelson might make okay tunes, but even he learned from the best !!!! And like my pappy told me many times- I taught you everything you know, boy... but I didn't teach you everything I know !!! Lyndon is Da Man .

that increase in mpg could be attributed to just running a better octane or quality gas
ust food for thought

5.3, why not ?!!? Hell, yes, you'll get *comparable* results, being you've got the smaller engine. But a buddy of mine put one in his 5.3 and was beating me until I put the new tune it. Haven't raced him yet, but woke his truck up immensely !!!

02sierra, nah. I've always run nothing but good grade super since the old tune a year ago.
