What advance are you guys using? 212/218
I got the infamous 212/218 high lift cam and noticed they set it up for a 115 ICL. I'm thinking about 109 degrees. I know there's about 72.4 guys here with that cam. What did you advance it, or what's your opinion either way?
Thanks

Are you sure that the ICL is 115? That sounds like the LSA...I'll bet that the ICL is 111, since they usually grind 4* of advance into those cams from what Iv'e seen. If that's the case, and you're asking how much to advance the cam upon installation, I'd install the cam straight up.

No I'm sure it's ground on a 115 ICL. See:

I actually thought it was a typo until I got it home and read the cam card.

Do you have an adjustable timing chain? I think most guys around here install their cams straight up.

Yeah I got a 9 keyway with it. I can go 2 degrees at a time. I've never cammed a Gen III engine, and all this stuff about wide LSAs and manifold vacuum is new to me, so I just wonder if my 109 ICL idea is old fashioned. I'm under the impression that they set it up on a 115 to get a little more top end out of it. That's why they rate it 1400 to 6700 rpm on the website. I just don't think people that buy them plan on revving that high...
If I wanted 6700 I would have bought a hr275 and picked up about 35 hp.
BTW, it's an LS6 with truck intake, long tubes, a 3.73, stock TC. Shooting for 440hp under 6000 rpm
