If you talking about a 400+ on GM's fantasy Engine dyno then your right, but real world chasis dyno, i seriously doubt you will come close to 400... No offense...

thanks, with the mods i have i put down 318, i believe my enging puts out 285hp according to GM... Dyno numbers don't mean squat... IMO track times is what counts...

Oh flywheel HP?? Sorry 99% of the people talk rear wheel hp because that is actually measureable in most cases, I don't think I have seen anyone strap an engine to a engine dyno before on this website... But hey if that floats your boat, engine dyno away... I still don't believe it will but down 400 right out of the box, sorry I am mr. Negative

Sorry about ranting in your post, but back on topic. IMO I would start with advancing 2 degrees and see how that feels, then advance or retard it from there. Since your after more power under the curve or at least that is what it sounds like I bet you will end up with roughly 4-5 degrees of advance

A couple of questions thou. What is the CR of a stock LS6? Also is the LS6 a motor that likes to rev or is that the LS2?

My dad staps every engine his builds on to an engine dyno, and he builds some really stout engines....too bad he doesn't do any GENIII stuff :bang; If I was more of a guru, and had money that I could quit my job, I'd spearhead his LS program...ahhh daydreams.

I agree, I'm guessing 4* of advance but I'm really not sure. Comp grinds 4* of advance into many of their LS cams, I'm curious why this one has 0

The LS6 has a 10.5:1. And one reason for talking flywheel hp is that you can figure out what injectors you need, amongst other things. All the books and websites I've seen that compare different cams and bolt ons show flywheel numbers, so it's a nice way to compare without worrying about whether one car has an aluminum driveshaft or 4L80 vs 60 etc. etc.

If you have 318 to the asphalt with a 4.8 you know what your'e doing
