The 206/212-112LSA cam would make a lot of torque. Futral Motorsports makes custom cams, give them a call and tell them what you want. They're a sponser ----->

that would work or the 212/218 is a good torque cam also, just stay with the 112 lsa so it will come on sooner. you will need 918 springs if you get the high lift version.

From everyone I've talked to (cam design experts, not people on boards), it's been recommended that for big fat torque down low, you should go with what 99silveradoSS is suggesting. The 212/218 will lose you power down low in exchange for higher RPM's. I'm considering going for the 206/212 or equivalent, simply because I won't be racing my truck and will rarely go above 6K RPM's. We aren't driving F-Bodies so we won't use that upper portion of the range that the 212/218 is good on.

Keep in mind the specs of your 2000 5.3L and realize the increase the 206/212 presents over the stock LM7 (190/191, 466/457, 114, +4).

Couldn't have said it better! Just remember when you see "Good Torque" or what ever, they are referring to the 5.7 LS1, which has more cubes and could make good low-end torque with a certain cam. Put that cam in the 5.3 or 4.8 and it might really hurt the low-end.

This cam is good for low/mid power:..
Thunder Racing Custom "Old Man" Camshaft - 215/220 .600/.523 115 LSA This is the perfect cam for someone looking for a stock range power band and stock sounding idle. Significant horsepower gains throughout the RPM range. No computer tuning required. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. This one is good too, and you wont have to change the springs:...
Crane Cams LS1 Camshaft - 208/216 .500/.500 114 LSA 1500-5500 RPM Power Band. Excellent low-end. Mild cam, great for automatic cars with the stock or mild aftermarket torque converter and daily drivers. Works well with Crane 1.8 Roller Rockers. (Special Expires 06/30/2004)
