Default What can I put on my new exhaust?

I am replacing my exhaust and I am looking for some type of paint/coating to keep the stainless from corroding in the beautiful Michigan winter. I tried VHT ceramic paint and it doesnt lat for ****. Maybe some old fashioned Rustoleum? Jet-Hot coating. I'm just tired of constantly painting ot to keep it looking good.

I've used black grill paint on exhaust I've wanted hidden, but I don't drive anything in the Midwest winter, so I don't know how it would hold up to that, but it's an idea.

I think the fact that it's stainless is a pretty good start...it'll show some surface rust but it'll hold together. I'll see if I can find the pics of my old ss tailpipes after 5 or 6 winters in the northeast...

EDIT, I knew I saw that pic recently, it was on my Cardomain site...this is a pic of my TA girdle, obviously the rear housing and exhaust got in the pic. The exhaust was a Gibson stainless single in dual out catback that was about 5 or 6 years old at the time...I've since removed the tail pipes and dumped before the axle not because it was falling apart but because I lowered the truck and it looked better dumped, and sounds better IMO. The pipes were pefectly solid when I removed them...

depends on what grade stainless... 409 will show surface rust but it's like a protective coating almost, it won't rust through, like in buds pic. 304 or 321 may discolor, but should not rust at all. If it's a high quality stainless, I wouldn't coat them at all, the stainless itself will outlast the coating IMO.

I have read about people using black bar-b-q paint to cover the parts. don't know how it works though. i just got a muffler welded on and I am going to try putting the bar-b-q paint on it to protect the bare metal on it.
