I just purcahsed a 2000 chevy silverado with a 4.8 Li V8 a month ago. 2 days after I got it the checked engine light came on. well I got out my scan tool found the code did some diagnosing and after replacing the air injection relay and a fuse I fixed the problem. Well needless to say the light came on again. same code but this time I just erased it. After that I drove around, you know normal everyday driving doing things here and there. Light never came back on. Was it just a fluke? Well I just want to know what causes it, mainly the relay blowing out just incase it happens again and I have to spend another $25 on a stupid relay.

Not sure what would cause it...let me think about it for a bit and I will let you know. This will get you looking in the right direction.

**edit....Looks like you found the problem.

 

"IF" it comes on again, you might want to take a look at the check valve. This info is from one of the TOP diagnostic techs in the USA.
