Default What damage did I do to my motor?

My EGR block-off plate (on the intake) came apart during a long trip. Basically the hole on the intake was open for about 250miles. The clown that made the block off plate had made it out of cardboard (I didn't know this since he painted it and covered it in silicone). After I got home I plugged the hole and went and bought an expansion plug. Now that it's plugged, my truck stumbles at idle and nearly dies when I change gears. Does it need time to relearn the idle? While the plug was open, it idled at 1200. Is it possible that I did some damage to the internals by driving it like that? Thanks.

i'd say its very unlikely that you did any damage, it was probably just running a bit lean since there was un-metered air coming into the motor. I think it'll straighten itself out.

My expansion plug came out on mine and when i tried to start my truck it would just rev up. I just put the plug back in and made sure it was tight.

There is a possibility that the truck was running lean because of the added "unmetered" air.

It seems to be running better now, but I'm gonna pull the plugs like you said and maybe disconnect the ground cable for a bit to reset the computer. Thanks ya'll.

odds are your plug is either missing or leaking

a small leak will cause it to die or shudder on deacceleration
