After doing some measuring last weekend I noticed that once you remove 4" from the rear, it only leaves 2" of clearance (suspension travel). That's not a whole lot a clearance (my Z28 has more than that - I think) for a truck. I almost felt like scrapping everything and only do a 2" drop in the rear to level the truck.

I also plan on getting the Hotchkis antisway bar kit as well.
Sorry for the late responce Snake...

2 inches is about right for suspension travel out back with a 4 inch drop. Ride Quality with the DJM shackel and hanger kit in the rear still bottomed out, but not as often. The DJM kit was not as harsh when the bottom out occured. Dont even bother trying to cary even a small load in the bed, you will be riding on bump stops. As far as the front goes the lower control arm set up never bottomed out.

If you want for just the rear you can get a kit that is adjustable for the rear. Range would be 2 to 4 inches. Just pull the bolt and move the leaf pack up or down. Then you can decide between the 2. It all depends on the look your going after. 2/4 drop was the max i would go IMO. The truck would still be pratical and comfortable.

Heres my story:

Over a year ago when I was looking for a drop kit, I was calling around to check part numbers on shocks. This was when everyone said that Doetsch Tech shocks were the way to go. So I call DT, guy tells me that he can get me the shocks, 2" springs (made by DT) and an adjustable leaf spring for the back made by "Bettes Spring" in Cali. The leafs were supposedely adjustable from 2 to 5 inches.

So I install everything, call the guy and ask how to set up the leafs for a 4" drop, he says you put these spacers (which are really just cut up peices of leaf spring) in a certain order for a certain drop. I do as he says (bolt holding leafs together is stripped - overall quality sucks. And when installed, it only dropped it 2 inches. So not wanting to mess with those stupid spacers again I just got some AIM shackes from the guy for close to nothing, and that gave me the extra 2 inches I needed for the 4 inch rear drop. I think the rear settled down a bit, and I didn't like hitting the bump stops all the time so I cut them down, still hit them.....now there are none. I only bottom out if there is alot of weight in the bed and hit a dip on the freeway.

DT shocks sucked IMO - just rode like crap. So I tried IAS's because everyone says their great. Ride was still too rough for these crappy roads around here. So I've had the stock shocks on for a long time, and the ride is better than with the IAS and Dt's.

Overall I'm really not happy with the suspension but havent really had the need to mess with it yet, and the ride is tolerable but still feels crappy....I think either the Hotchkis or spindle+hanger+shackle might be in my future.

Well, I think Hotchkis is going to be my drop.

2/4. Spring in the front and spring in rear.

Yes, Hotchkis has a whole new spring pack. The are de-arched 4 or two inches, I think.
