Default What to expect from a 80MM TB

Hey you experts, what should I expect from installing a 80MM Throttle Body on my 5.3 truck? I'm already modded w/ cold air, engine-back custom exhaust, MAF, Nelson Tune & Shift Kit.

Is it worth it? Will I feel the diffrence?

I put mine on my truck when I had a lot of bolt on's and I think it actually hurt performance. So I took it off and put my spacer back on and it felt stronger again. but when i went with the Procharger I had them put it back on.

if you're not flowing enough air to make the stock throttle body be a restriction, you're wasting your time and money. at the power level you're at, you'll likely lose more than you'll gain.

Why does it cause a lose in power? Doesn't make sense. Of course I've been around flux remover fumes all day...

because so much more air is coming in the velocity is bein slowed down of the air flow and its causes a turbulence , most of them help in the upper rpms becuase theres so much more vac there pullin air in .

am i right guys

Just keep your stock TB. Unless your going to install a twin turbo kit or equivalent forced air induction.
The stock TB has plenty of CFM of flow to handle most power adders as well.

before i had nelson tune for the bbk 80mm t/b i lost 4/10 of a second at the track, but after we tuned for the t/b i gained 1/10 and 2mph over stock t/b. Same night testing.

On the dyno it showed 10hp gain. But like i said after nelson tuned for it.

I had mine in my 99 5.3 and I thought it helped. It was the only difference between mine and a buddy's truck and I would always have lower track times.

I got one I pulled off my 99 when I sold it that I will sell ya TorqueWrench.
