What gears for 305/45/22 tires?
What gears will work best for my 305/45/22 (31") tires? I'm looking for more low end torque. I have 3.73 atm.
Where is the cheapest place to get Eaton posi and gears these days?
Edit: Does "G80" = posi?? Thats my RPO code, can I still benifit from an eaton posi?

a 3.90 will get you back to the stock ratio, a 4.10 will get you some more snap. if you plan on upping the power the g80 is the weak link. 4.10's and a posi are in the plan for the burb. (see sig.)

I have 3.73s in the VHO with 32" tall 20s. I run about 2000 rpm at 70. It will be acceptable, but if you want to change, I would put 4.11s (about 2200 at 70 ). 4.56s will bring you up to about 2500 at 70. However, I drive at 80 and the 4.56s would be at about 2800 RPMs, and that is too much for me.
Does anyone make 4.30s?

ok, I'm ready to order the eaton posi, is this the correct one for my truck? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT
I'm going to order the gears from GM. I'm either going to get the 4.10 or the 4.11 gears.
This question is the one i'm having the most problems with. I see the rebuild kits or upgrade kits. Which kit do i need with this setup. A part number or a link would get me headed in the right direction. I want to make it as strong as possible.
thanks

so, 305 x .45 = 137.25mm / 25.4 = 5.4" x 2 = 10.8" + 22" = 32.8" tire height.
The G80 code you have stands for the Eaton Locker! I am not sure why you would want to change this out for an Eaton Posi? The locker will lock both wheels together putting equal power to both wheels when wheel slip as little as 100 rpm is noticed between axles. It will lock progressively until full lockup is achieved. The limited slip (posi) will never achieve full lock between axles because it is only set to reduce a certain percentage of slip.
Flem, 285s in the same aspect ratio (45) as 305s will be a shorter tire not a taller tire. 305/45/22 = 32.8" tire height : 285/45/22 = 32.1" tire height

Mort, I'm running 305/40's on my truck they are 31.6" tall,
The problem w/ the G80 is it only locks under 20mph. then a governor keeps it from lockin in , on the street in low speed turns, if I matt it, the burb just fries the tires like a one legger. the posi doesn't lock all the way but it works at all speeds.
