Damn, sorry to hear that news. Once again another comp horror story. I was looking at those springs a month ago for my 6.0 cam. Real glad i listened to fred and just went with patriot duals, there seems to be a relation between and comp 918's, g80's 4l60e's around here...

damn it sucks, i guess is the same thing that happened to me... broke spring, dropped valve and put a hole in the piston! by the way when i talked to the comp cam rep. he said that the old 918's were rated to .600 and these new ones are rated to .625
and by the way, i've seen a fair share of duals also break, so dont think they wont.... if its a performance part, its got its limits and are very capable of breaking...

I realize all performance parts are suseptible to failure, i've broke my fair share
. However, A dual spring rated for 650 lift is far more reliable then a single spring rated for 625 lift imo. I'm especially not too worried in my case, using a cam with a lift far under max rated (566-568). That aside from the point, with a dual spring you have a better chance of catching a single failure before it lets the valve eat the piston while a single spring is just that. You are relying on the strength of 1 spring to do the work of 2, no wonder things are gonna break more often. A search on comp 918 failures vs. patriot failures will tell that. Yes, you can still have failure but imo its less likely. So whats the downside to duals? well, they are noisier, and with the added pressures, they are gonna wear out valvetrain faster, but at least it will be likely naturally...
