I like mine a lot, good SOTP difference. I didn't install mine, that was back before I knew what I was doing , I had ASM install them.

I also don't know how the Dynatechs are, never seen them in person.

Coulda sworn that the ASM's have an EO number. But if they told thunder thats not true, I would go with that answer.

So you would think that some good custom fabbing would make it possible to retain the cats close to their original position. I mean how does an inspector know one set of headers from another? Will they require a CARB number in some form of documentation from you? It just seems like if the cats are there and you pass the smog test, why bother hassling you any furthur? Has anyone actually dealt with this situation during an inspection?

You can buy the LT's and have your custom shop reinstall your stock cat. Yeah, it'll be moved back some, but it will work.

Or you can buy high flow cats from Magnaflow and still under price the Dynatech system.

The ASM headers retain the stock cats in the stock position, they get rid of the pipe before the cats and re-weld the collector flange directly to the inlet of the cats.

You have to cheat.

If your truck came with EGR, fabricate it back in. If your truck was originally a CA Emissions truck you have a cat on each side - keep it that way. Weld O2 bungs into the collectors if they already are not. Lengthen O2 wires if necessary but don't consider using an O2 bung in a primary tube if you get headers that have that. It your truck came with A.I.R. injection, fabricate it! Everything must remain intact.

Here's the part where you cheat: Keep the C.A.R.B. sticker from your previous legal short or mid-length headers right where it is. It you have a visible emblem on the headers replace it with the legal one from your legal headers. Next, coat them up so they don't looked hacked and cross your fingers.

CA Smog law is a lot of bull. It does work though, think back at the air here ten-fifteen years ago. I'm of the opinion that it the emissions stuff is there and it passes the sniffer it should be good to go. That ain't the law but it's my opinion and how I've choosen to set up my exhaust.

I'd have to agree with you James. If the vehicle is modified it should be able to pass the sniffer test to legal.

It's also probably why I play with older cars. Not too many smog regulations on a 49 hudson with a 56 desoto hemi.

haha you dont even have to have a seat belt! now that could definitly be something needed though. good luck with the legality issues of having a performance vehicle in any state especially california
