Default what motor???

ok sure you've all heard this but i gotta ask too what motor should i use in my 04 ext 4wd silverado. ok i plan on front striaght axle conversion 8" lift 36" tire 5.12 gears so on so i would like to have some nice low end torque but i want some high hp # i was think slp 402 any thoughts ?? right now it has a 4.8. i would like to take it to the track everyonce in a while for fun too. matter of fact there is a big jacked up ford desiel i would like to smoke. i seen him beat a old school 1500 pickup that was also jack way up. so i'd like to be the big silverado that gets to hand his *** to him. i'll probably have a stall and all that good stuff too nut would like to have good low end grunt for climbing through the mud and hills and just pure off road fun. thanks for any opinions just so much out there can't make up my mind.

oh and the 36" tires are just for daily driving i'm sure i'll have bigger ones for playing in.

what ever it takes to make a good strong eng but cheap at same time like i want to use my heads intake you get the idea i want to use all my bolt on stuff just need a good short block eng to put it all on. couse later on i can always put on other heads or get mine done and such.

well you have 5.3 liter heads and they will not breath and don't evven know if they will perform on a 408. I would look at a complete long block off of ebay or soemthing for like $2000 and throw in a cam, springs, arp bolts and jsut a few things to beef it up and you shouldn't have any probelms and you will get a ton more power. Or jsut get the 6.0 and throw a radix on it. I would give a call to APE about putting something together for you and you getting an idea of $.

really I think I would go with a 408 that has 6.0 heads and keep the compression about 10.1.

You can do a search for Mike K (username) on here and you find a lot of info on our 408 engine. Mike has the complete package.
Also give us a call and we can go over anything and everything you need. Thanks for the interest in our engines.

Thanks
