Default what MPH do you lock your converter in 4th?

I think Charlie has mine locking somewhere between 40-45mph. When I'm getting on the highway this thing is a DOG.....it locks up and runs about 1100rpm. What is the disadvantage to raising my lockup to 60mph? Why does GM lockup the tq. converter around 40mph? I remember with the 4.8 it was such a dog when it locked up the truck would not accelerate even if you pushed the pedal what seemed like an inch. It was horrible. I like what Trever1t did with his, it doesn't lock up until he eases up on the throttle, otherwise I think he locks it at 45.

i think stock lock-up is 38mph, which mine is. i dont have a problem with it. if you don't want it to lock, just keep your foot in it a little more until you're ready for it to lock.

I think it would have been worthwhile for me to have gotten HP Tuners before I started modded and learned to tune myself. It must be nice to be able to make adjustments on the fly.

I forgot how low it was from the factory. I lock mine at 52 mph and sometimes think that is to low.

It's never too late to buy the software and begin learning. I am only "experimenting" with my trans settings, it seems no matter where I set the tcc to lock it makes NO DIFFERENCE because I am not permitted to roll at any speed for my than 1 minute! Too much stop and go.
Wheatly can raise your tcc set points, for highway driving mine are set to lock at 50mph in 4th.

sure it does...when locked at low speeds it just chugs, same as yours. Any throttle will allow mine to unlock. Damn I love this cooler weather, it's 55 this morning, I just left a big ol patch leaving the light

I have my converter lockup at 55 in 4th. It is a little high, but I love the way it feels with my truck and what I have done.
