What Oil Weight & Brand?

Well I Have 204k On My 99 5.3 And As With Most Of These Ls1 Based Motors It Burns About A Quart Between Changes. Ever Since I Bought The Truck With 60k On It I Have Used Royal Pruple 5w30 And A K&n Filter Until I Hit About 160k And Really Couldnt See Spending Almost 50$ Every Time I Changed My Oil, So I Switched To Ford Motorcraft 10w30 Synthetic Blend, And Have Used It Ever Since. I Done Some Research On Oil And I Also Worked For Exxon Where They Bottle The Oil And Seen About 15 Different Types And Brands Coming Out Of One Plant. So I Went With The Motorcraft And I Still Use The K&n Filter, Because My Research Says It Has Some Of The Most Filtering Microns Among All Brands, The Only One That I Know Of That Is Equel Is The Purolator Pure Gold Filter, Which I Use From Time To Time. Plus I Work For A Ford Dealership So I Get My Motorcraft Oil For Free. And Thats Always A Plus. I Have Talked To One Of The Ford Engineers Before And He Said As Long As You Have Some Type Of Quality Oil And Nots So Much What Brand, It How Often You Change It. Unless Its One Of Those Mobil 1 High Milage Types.he Reccommended Mobil 1 , Amsoil Or Royal Pruple, He Sayd Redline May Be Ok But He Doesnt Know That Much About It. My Grandpaw Says Royal Purple Has Been Around Since The Late 50's And Back Then It Was Called Royal Triton, originally Engineered For The Militarys Airplanes And Such. But It Was Almost The Same Exact Formula That They Still Use Today .

Royal Purple 15/40 With Ac Delco Filter Here. Just Rolled Over 100,000 Miles Last Month, It Gets Ran Pretty Hard, And No Oil Consumption. I Stay With The Thicker Oil Here, Because Its So Damn Hot In The Summer....btw, Just To Confirm, Did Ac Delco Supercede The Old Oil Filter For A New Smaller One For The 99-03 Trucks?
