Default What is this sensor?

My 01 engine does not have it....



But my 05 engine does....

That looks like an engine block heater element.

Us AZ boys don't have to worry about that kind of stuff.

Pull it out and see.

engine block heater. swap them out you dont need them.

Ahhh ok. Will it cause a problem with the 05 PCM if the heater is not hooked up?

Does it actually interface with the PCM? I thought those heaters just had a plug somewhere on the grill that you could hookup a power cord too.

I dunno how they work, never used one before. Maybe it doesn't work with the PCM....that means I can leave it alone and not worry about it.

The block heater dosent have anything to do with the PCM. I'd get rid of it, one less thing to break/leak.

The block heaters are typically in the coolant passage of the front drivers side cylinder? That picture looks like its in the oil gallery. As long as you have an alternate location to obtain an oil pressure reading then plug the location in your second picture.
