Default What would you change on this list ???

I just got the word yesterday thet I got the promotion I have been pushing for, and with it a SERIOUS raise in pay......

Since I will now have considerably more money to play with I have decided to build up the motor in the truck a little more than I planned on (god knows I've only changed my mind about 500 times on here already.....but hey, that's what bench racing is for right ??)

Take a look at the list below and tell me what you think I could/should change...but be reasonable please....

Headers...............Dynatech SuperMaxx 6.0 Header System (already own)
Exhaust System....Magnaflow Silverado SS Side Exit w/ 4" Tip
Cam....................VHP "047" Grind - 210º/218º .531/.531 112LSA (may go *slightly* larger with this)
Heads.................Patriot Stage II LS1 Assembled Heads - 2.02/1.57 valves, Patriot springs, keepers, and retainers
Rocker Arms.........Stock LS1 Rocker Arms (already own)
Pushrods.............Manley 7.400" Hardened Pushrods
Oil Pump.............TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
Timing Set...........Rollmaster Double-Roller Adjustable Timing Set

Overall I think it sounds cool. But...have you done research to come up with these choices or are you just throwing something together?

You might want to look at this thread before getting those patriot heads.

I dont like that thread. It doesn't mean **** to me because I've seen one of TSP's guys say this:
You might also consider the Patriot 5.3l heads. They have chambers setup for keeping good compression on trucks, and with their most recent updates they flow awesome!
Yea, they flow awesome enough for them not to sell PP products anymore.

Isn't that sorta vendor bashing? I mean, both are sponsors. I saw alot saying we respect you TSP. I don't, they shouldn't of been selling there products since the beginning if they were no good. No one has ever said anything about TSP trying to sell us **** that wouldn't be ideal eh hum (heads)

btw all that was referring to TSP, not you reaper

I've been researching things for 2 years now.....

The cam is based on a reccomendation (marc_w) and a phone call to Vinci High Performance, The Patriot heads are the best bang for the buck out there.......$1395 for assembled Stage II CNC LS1 heads is OUTSTANDING, I DO realize that they aren't in the same league with TSP, TEA, and the like but they aren't a BAD head either

Other than the heads/cam all of the other stuff is pretty standard

The Magnaflow w/ a 4" tIP?

They make a daul 3" in, full 4" out, not just the tip, however, that kit comes with the 22" muffler case.

Not to try to sound like a dick or anything, but you sound like you already have your mind made up on what you want. Honestly, look back and see the many problems people have had with patriot heads. Is saving a couple of hundred dollars worth possibly thousands of dollars if the heads have a problem and screw up your engine? Not only will it cost you more in the long run in money, but you will also have to take the time to get it fixed. Good luck man, whatever you choose.

How many miles on the truck?? I might go ahead and yank the block out and throw a forged one in. The costs have come waay down. A few thousand $$ and you could handle boost, nitrous, etc. and have a zero mile engine.
Your cam seems small for my taste - easy enough to change later though. You could sell the 210/218 and only be out $100 if you decide to go another route.
Do you have a TC yet??
What's your ultimate HP goal??
You've only changed your mind 500 times in 2 years - lol - I owned 5 Z's and a TA and changed cars every 10 months because I would decide to go a different route. My TA is a culmination of 5 years and 10,000 mind changes. Of note, I'm running Patriot heads, as well as many others around here - we are 2 hours away from Lubbock (home of TSP). I love my bang for the buck - the $1,000 I saved bought me a really kick-*** TNT 150 wet shot (dynoed 207 rwhp w/ PP5.3 heads and TSP231/237 cam).

Sorry if I digressed, we all love the sponsors we support and having quality options so we can change our minds 500 times. Here is my newest opinion (read: subject to change within 1 week). I would save all my money on headers, cam, intake, exhaust, etc.etc. and get an STS turbo. There's a great thread on Radix vs. STS - from the reading you probably couldn't go wrong either way. Better gas mileage and a ton more hp and potential for hp. Just food for thought. Props on the new j.o.b.

02Reaper.....no offense taken, I would like to see the difference between, oh say a $2000 set of heads and a $1300 set though.....if it's only 15 hp I'll stick with the $1300 set (I'm still inherently cheap and even though I got a raise I'm not MADE of money), as far as I know the only real issue with the Patriot heads is the finish work, and this is coming from guys that run 10 seconds....I'll NEVER run that so I'm not real worried. I have looked at the TEA and TSP heads and both are GREAT heads....if there is a HUGE difference between the Patriot and those heads please educate me......

Black Blown 02...see the inherently cheap part in the above....there are guys running DEEP in the 11's on stock rockers....with the 1-in-100,000 chance of the bearings failing being the only downside I'll chance my luck

Arigom.....70,000 miles, the cam is pretty small but 100% drivability is ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY...if the girlfriend can't be comfortable driving it the whole project won't even happen (I've been with her 6 years...we're all but married...even just bought a house together), I AM considering the VHP 216º/224º .600/.600 113 though too, A forged 6.0 is probably WAY more than I'll ever need (but I AM considering it), No TC yet but a Yank TT2600 is on the list for this winter, NA HP goal is 400ish at the wheels (I can do that comfortably without a forged bottom-end). The STS kit IS interesting but given the fact that the '99 had a sucky 6.0 (iron heads, REALLY little cam) I'd rather build up the motor first and then go with a twin-screw supercharger in the future
