Just curious on wether or not these engines are as great as they seem to be described..definitely not interested in getting either...just curious as to what some of you think of them,,either from personal experience or just know about them...just hav never seen someone with either of these engines setup in there vehicle and even seen one at a track...ill stick to the newer ls blocks on boost...

The 572 is a pretty bad *** set up.. And for the price it isn't to bad either. I have a pair of 565ci Dart big blocks that we did for my boat. All billet, forged internals, have over 20k a engine.. So getting a turn key BBC with a warranty for that is not bad imo..

Throw a 100mm turbo on a 572 and there arent many things on 4 wheels that can catch you

definitely would be sick to hav a turbo bbc...all i can think of tho is why do people that hav a choice between the ls7 and 572 or even 502,,why do they go for the more expensive ls7 for less hp/tq? i know that as far as being able to drive it on the street and be able to go on a road trip the ls7 is the best candidate..altho idk for the price why do most invest in a 10-15k setup for a vehice that will maybe be a lil quicker than the 572? idk i figure the 572 or 502 would be the best street/strip setup,,,cons-extremely bad mpg and bad driveability i guess...

Well you have to think. A 572 or 502 will not swap into everything as easy as a LS7. I mean theres always a way you can do it, but putting these LS engines in vehicles that dont origionally have them is pretty darn easy. Putting a 502 in a rx7, would probably be alot harder, and weigh a **** ton more.

I agree, I would rather have a 572 over an GEN 4 LS7, esp. in a truck.
If you are talking about the GEN 4 LS7, it outputs 505 sae "certified" hp. The ZZ502 outputs 502 hp. You would think that the ZZ502 is up 3 hp, but the comparison isnt equal. The LS7 is outputting quite a bit more than 505hp if you use the exact same rating system the ZZ502 uses. The ZZ502 does output 567 lb/ft torque, which the LS7 cant match, even with the difference in rating.

The ZZ502 has a nice idle, but tends to load up when cold, at least in the carbed version. But when you hit the skinny pedal, it works and works well.

I have seen some tests where a 720hp/572R was used on 93 octane on the street, pulled some timing and it worked OK.

Ramjet 502 would have better driveability, but GM went really conservative on the tune, both the Ramjet 502 and Ramjet 350 and even the Ramjet ZL-1 can benefit from better tunes on the MEFI box.
The Ramjet ZL-1 454 is rated at 510hp@5750/493 lb/ft@4250rpm 6300rpm redline is a special pice as only 200 were made. It uses a solid roller with 0.640"/.598" lift 236º/232º dur@0.050", it was around $23,000(CAN) when I priced it at the dealership.

peace

well if u think about it it wouldnt be that hard to swap a 502 or 572 in2 a 94 and older chevy truck considering the technology isnt that amazing...but i mean if sum1 were to swap a 502 or 572 or nething carbed other than ls in2 an nbs or nnbs truck it wouldnt be worth it...altho for the price a turn key 502 fuel injected bbc would,,in my opinion the way to go if ur looking in2 price and the hp/tq u get in2 an obs or older truck..instead of doing an ls swap...im doing my ls swap for the better economy with fuel injection and want to get in2 the new age blocks...plus theyre lighter and u can get the 502 bbc stock performance with an lq4 and a turbo setup and still kind of have the driveability of the lq4 and maybe only lose 2-3mpg if u know how to stay off of putting the pedal to the floor all the time...
