Default Whats the best intake out there for a 03 Z71?

I tried a search but came up short. I see alot of companies make them such as AEM, K&N, etc... Who makes the best one? I also saw one with a "Ram air intake".

Volant seems to be the only one that makes a sealed intake with an optional ram air scoop, effectivly sealing off engine heat from the intake air.

K & N makes a good semi-sealed box intake, but heat can still get in around the seal againts the hood, plus you have to make your own ram air scoop.

Look into AFE or Airaid. My volant didn't fit very good where the MAF mounts to the air box. I would rather see a more positive seal. Things just didn't line up well. Just a small quality control issue that im sure has been fixed. The Airaid supposedly seals pretty good to the bottom of the hood.

I have the AEM bruteforce on an 02 and it sounds great, fit well, and I could tell qiute a bit of difference in throttle response. But it is the only one that I have tried. But it is great so far!

I think S&B and the Volant look the "cleanest", but i really like my K&N 77 series. i noticed a good difference in throttle response and overall power after I installed it. it goes well with longtube headers

I have a Volant and the ram air tube and no complaints. Installing the ram air tube is a little tricky but worth it. GM performance parts just came out with an intake with a sealed box thats looks really nice very similar design to the volant. The GM perf air intake is an oil free filter which i would prefer.

If you get the ram air tube you should probably get the pre filter. The ram air tube works so well it forces some water up it in down pours but I haven't had any problems but my filter gets dirty faster with the ram air.

Also I found out that GM can void a warranty with an open air element type of air intake if there is a warranty issue that could remotely be caused by an air intake.
