I may be on cloud 9, but im thinking with my setup, and a tvs 1900 Im sure I could make between 450-480 rwhp in the truck with a maggie. I dont think Id make nearly that with a H/C 6/0L package, or am I wrong?
Trever1t is making 600+/750+ at the rear with a TVS, meth and a lil go fast spray on his 5.3. I'd put my money on him against a H/C/E 6.0 any day, haha

You could but it would be a radical 6.0, good heads or l92's. A 1900 along with a cam, mild heads should def get you 500 whp..

Im not sure which setup to go, tvs 1900 with a GT-3 cam, or perhaps do a bigger stall, 6.0L, heads and cams etc...Whats everyone think I should do? Im sure the 6.0L would be a bit cheaper, but wheres my money better spent?

let me know your opinions, and the reason for it...discuss

Bowtie, I can't comment on $8k 500+ ci crate engine brand new w/. warranty & still having some left over for headers & other stuff. $6k on builds 5-10 yrs. ago were prolly not EFI either. $15k isn't unheard of on some builds today. Good internals, heads, a C5R block, etc. could do that price tag, just sayin.

07 Z71, u really think a HKE 370 w/. a KBbracing turbo kit can be had for $8K? HKE motors must cost less than I think then, I guess it depends on the internals & how $ of heads he gets. Even if a budget 6.0 w/. KBracing kit, he wants to stay away from turbos.

Its pretty sad but is the truth.. 2500-3k will get you a nice short end if you can't do one your self..
Yes, it is

I might bust John's chops, but this actually sounds like a pretty decent build. A used 6.0 is prolly $400-1000, a set of heads done or some Edelbrocks for say ~$2300, nice FI cam ($400 or rock yours), TVS 1900 prolly $5000-5500. The 2300 would add $500-750 to that, so it'd break the $8. It'd sure be close using a 1900 tho or if u sourced cheaper heads. Also, assuming the 6L is sound.

D_reks{5.3} while John likes men, & maybe he has a small ***** too, it doesn't make his truck faster. Well, maybe the small ***** shaves a few clicks off his time.

I'd take rather listen to some blower whine on a 5.3 than a nice heads/cam 6L

TX Tahoe Z71, while Trever1t is making 600+/750+ RW w/. a TVS, meth and a lil spray on his 5.3, he doesn't have a budget. Us normal folks do.

and to answer the OPs ?, id say build up a nice heads/cam 6L and find a used blower. even tho you said you didn't want used. but even a nice heads/cam 6L by itself will put out more power than a maggie on a 5.3.
Do us a favor shove a beer bottle up your *** and do a cannon ball in the street.

IMO just buy a TVS 1900 or 2300 and slap it on your current 5.3 setup and i think youll be more then happy

Exactly haha. I know a 5.3 with a blower and all the goodies(spray and meth) will make more power than a nice heads/cam 6L, But a basic cammed 5.3 and tvs 1900 will not IMO. you would save more cash doing the 6L and could use that cash to wherever else is needed and still have around 450whp.

I do have a budget simply because id like to put a cap on it and not go crazy, but theres no reason why i cant go more. I actaully have 15 grand set aside for the white truck, but beside the motor work i also have to pay for the FLT, and im going to scrap my pacesetters and current exhaust setup in favor for American racing setup and corsa catback. Also going to be upgrading to wilwoods all the way around.

I really like that tvs option, ive alwaysa wanted a maggie since day one. Anyone running a nice Head and Cam package on a 5.3 can chime in for some numbers. I would most likely also run meth, pretty cheap extra.

for 8k , id say do a tvs1900, custom grind cam, and worked heads that put u at 10:1 compression... but if ur going tvs, id set some cash aside to switch back to 3.73's... u will have some stump pulling torque from this set-up and great hp if ur cam is ground right... id say thats around 6k in the blower and cam. and depending on who does ur heads im pretty sure u can come out below 8k

Skipdaddy made 522rwhp with his Roush TVS, cam and eBay LT's iirc
