Whipple light flashing at WOT

Whipple light flashing at WOT
I've had this happen before, but it had quit doing this until this morning. On a WOT run in 3rd gear, the whipple warning light starts flashing at the upper rpm's(above 5000).This should be an indication that the 02 sensors are reading lean.I checked with a scan tool the last time this was happening and the 02's where reading good numbers...over 850mv.I called whipple tech the last time and they were no help.Couldnt give me any other reason than the 02's must have read lean...but they didn't.
Any ideas on other possibilities

Re: Whipple light flashing at WOT
Did it flash a code or just flash on and off with no pattern?
I had a similar problem with mine so I checked all electrical connections, called whipple, and then took the supercharger off until I get LS1 edit so I can get rid of the supplemental computer and build in some proper tuning. Whipple was no help at all. The only other reason they gave me other than O2 was the tach wire.
Good luck!

Re: Whipple light flashing at WOT
I believe it is based off the crank position sensor. Since they claim that their auxillary computer doesn't come on until a certain RPM and 70% Throttle. He was saying that the CPS connection was bad.
Personally, I think they didn't know what the problem was and couldn't figure out how else to get me off the phone.
Just got LS1edit so the Whipple could be going back on in a few weeks but I want to see how much I like my new (2000 Corvette) 5.7 first.

and the light did not flash. It may be nothing more than a false light.I need to get someone to ride with me a watch my scan tool for me.kinda hard to keep focused on it at 100 plus mph

Re: Whipple light flashing at WOT
Seeing as how you are saying it happens in third gear I an assuming that you are IN IT for a little run. Your lean condition is the likely cause, but the Whipple light is comming on because of High temperature. I ran into this on a few of my Whipple's. To solve the problem for me I did exhaust work made it breath a little easier. It stopped doing it as soon as I left the muffler shop. Oh by the way I am selling My Whipple off of my 01. It is on EBAY and has about 7 hrs to go. Will fit 99-01 4.8,5.3,6.0L.

I do have plans on having dual exhaust run with an x-pipe(2.5 inch duals) through magnaflow mufflers in the near future.....maybe that will take care of it all together

Re: Whipple light flashing at WOT
I just got back from making a run with the scan tool.I had one of my techs ride with me and watch my 02's.My 02's stayed above 900mv each run.We were able to make one 3rd gear run, held it till about 5600 rpm's and the 02's still were above 900mv.Knock retard was at zero. The light did not flash anymore either.
If it is caused by my exhaust....hopefully running duals will fix it.

Re: Whipple light flashing at WOT
That Whipple light is useless IMO. After about 2 months of looking at it on my dash and regretting drilling a hole I went to the dealer and got another plate (I had it mounted in the blank plate next to the airbag switch. While I was in there I got another plate and took out the airbag switch too. Now that area of the dash is a lot cleaner looking and I don't have to look at that stupid Whipple light, My suggestion is to remove it and forget about it.
