Other than converter, shift kit and servos what parts/places have you used to beef up the tranny.
these parts seem interesting.

My truck has 47000 and now that I have a work truck it will be seeing little-to no miles, other than cruising and track time.
I'm going for a 3000 stall, transgo, servo and 2 level deep pan. I don't want to have to rebuild the tranny after these upgrades.
Would it be worth it to just buy a built tranny? <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

buy a built tranny.....
try this place... http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm
the Raptor looks like a killer 4L60-E...all the good parts and better clutches...and a killer price
just remember that even the Raptor isn't designed for hardcore drag racing...none of the 700R4/4L60/4L60-E's are

Thanks man,
The raptor is the same tranny I was talking about. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Do you know what converters they use?
You figure 700+ for a hp stall and than install price it would be better to buy a complete tranny for 2grand with tha stall already and just bolt it right in keep your stock for a backup-hopefully won't need it.

The man to talk to is Brian Hartman. He has the best kits for this tranny and his custom 9"/11" converter rocks. (see my comments under torque management)._________________

I just bought the kit from transmission center. It is supposed to include everything they put in the raptor. I got the kit and the converter for like $1089. The converter was custom made for my truck-they asked for tire diam., gear ratio, weight, tq and hp, etc. It was built by somebody in Illinois named midwest converters. The coverter is a hybrid unit with the front housing being 12 inch therefore having full size lockup clutches for durability and the back half is 9 inch for improved efficiency and stall. Looks like the best of both worlds to me but I may change my mind once it is done! I am hoping to get started on it this weekend. I will definitely post once it is up and running/

Damn, i'm glad i didn't purchase one from them, but there are always two sides to a story, but the fact that they don't backup thier talk is enough for me.
I did order parts from them and everything went great.
I've pulled my tranny out 4 times in the last 3 weeks and i'm pissed, maybe this time it will hold up. I had every piece cleaned and every gasket and seal inspected. The guy was great and very knowledgealbe, he's a Master ASE cetified w/ experience.

So has anyone put a TH400 behind their ls1 and what's involved?

thanks,

allen

The bellhousing pattern is the same..has been since 1955.., making it work is a whole other story...you have no kickdown cable provision on either the throttle-by-wire or the cable actuated throttle body...so you would have to fab one, the computer looks for input from the tranny to control the engine properly...without it I don't think the engine would run corectly unless you could "fake" the tranny inputs, the TH400 is vacuum controlled as well...the guys running blowers MAY have problems shifting at certain RPM's, you will only have 3 gears instead of 4, so your gas mileage will suck *** on the highway, and last..but not least..the TH400 is about a foot shorter than the 4L60-E AND used a divorced transfer case in the 4X4 applications.....so new mounts and a new T-Case are need to make it work right

bottom line here is...swap to the 4L80-E and go with a deeper rear gear....thae 4L80-E will handle diesel torque...you won't kill it...and it's a MUCH easier swap

just my .02
