Default Who has installed Cal Speed LT's? Install thread

My thread on GMFS became a huge mess with another vendor of long tubes bashing the CSP headers and bs chatting, so I decided to start one over here.

With the exception of two 4x4 guys on gmfs, who else has installed these? I've had my set for a while, but due to the holidays and priorities I am just getting everything together to install this weekend.

Another member on gmfs is coming over to install his as well (assuming they arrive in time), so any issue that arises we will post up. Along with progress pics and sound clips. I don't except any fitment issues except maybe around steering, we will soon see!

Thumbs up

Good Luck with the install and feel free to use the link in my sig for a bunch of tips and pics that'll still be helpful with the newer style Ebay headers, aka the Cal Speed's...

Anyone have issues with steering shaft on 2wd?

Should I use supplied 8.8 bolts or buy SS at fastenal? Really do not want to re-use factory bolts.

Want to have all my ducks in a row before saturday.

Plug wires touching?

What gaskets do you plan on using? IMHO you can't beat the stock gaskets, no joke.

The supplied hardware should be fine.

I'd expect to unbolt trans from crossmember and push on tail end... to give more room while dropping the p/s in. This was required on the TBSS(GMT360) platform... I dont know how similar your setup is but the pass. is a bitch. give yourself a whole day and take your time.

Not too familiar with these headers but do watch plug wires touching or just the boot end... if so.. remove one end and give it a 1/4 twist. That should move it off just enough and get you by until you can get some wire boots.

Thanks,

I have AC Delco gaskets, not running supplied, also, running band clamps from Jegs.

We are starting tomorrow on mine, and using Sunday for the other truck.

I think I will just run the supplied bolts for now, tired of throwing money on the install. I will be replacing wires with the MSD wires soon. I totally forgot to factor that in, like an idiot until today. Our plans are to either use roof drip pans (thin metal at Lowes/Home Depot) to make a bracket like in the link, or using header wrap if they are an issue! Just until I get the wires in.

Those jegs clamps are junk.

Im running a set right now and ill be tossing them when I get a chance to swing by napa and pick up some torctites, for a preformed band clamp they dont seal well(which is why I bought them). Used torctite clamps on diesels for years and never had an issue, got what I paid for trying to save a couple of bucks.
Also had them on two months now and theyre already rusting, real great quality.
