Default cam

Hey man I have the one above it, its like a 536/537? I have the 4.8, thrush exhaust/tci 3000 stall/volant cai/tb spacer/vette servos/3.90 richmond gears/dyno tune on the computer. OMG It is a huge difference. I will find out this afternoon because I am going to the track to test it. I will let you know how many tenths it shaves!

Would like to hear your thoughts.
How it responds VS. Stock???
Change in Gas Milage???
What other mods You have done to support the cam swap???

Im in Sothern California So I have to pass the sniffer.

I have a 5.3L That I am rebulding right now. Nothing special But I am looking to put a set Of WCCH Stage 1 Heads on it. Basically I would like to pick up power and tourque all Across the board. Hoping not to lose to much on the gas milage end too...

Truck Is Stock 2000 C1500 ECSB 5.3L My DD
trans Rebuild/Popular Upgrades coming before install. Also going to go through the rear end Too...

Looking at adding 2500 Stall converter and swaping from 3.42 to 3.73 with a Posi.

Thanks
I have been running this came for a little while and I really like it! I had the cam in before my headers and Yank 3000, and felt it gave a noticeable gain across the board. Especially higher up in the rpms. I saw no lose in mpg either.

After putting the headers on it really woke it up!!! Way more power over 3k rpm, and more torque on the bottom end. I also saw an increase in mpg. The best I could get before the cam and headers was 17.3 or so. That is with a mail order tune. After the cam and headers and doing some tuning myself I got a solid 18.5mpg while never hitting the highway. All driving I did on that trip was off the interstate with a max mph of 55-60.

Now, from a dig, the truck never wanted to light up the tires. Even after all the power mods. It would just hook and go. I installed the Yank 3000 and got a much more powerfull take-off. Still not much tire spin unless I bake-stalled it a little bit. After alot of tuning I was able to work things out and it really hauls off the bottom now. It will light them up without even trying if it is damp out and will still leave two nice black marks on dry pavement. It is a blast!!! Truck is soooo much more fun to drive!!!

All in all the best advice I can give you is to get a professional live tune. This will unlock alot of power and make the truck daily drivable. All of the problems I have had with power and drivability where all tune related. DON'T skimp on your tune!!!!!!

Awsome!!! Yea I believe in a live tune too. I am still trying to figure out who I am going to have do that part. Its funny how the factory went away from the 3.42 and started going to 3.73 . While its not a huge diffrenece, My personal belief is that GM may have discovered it had something to do with real world driving, tire and rim swaps, towing, and all the transmisson faliures I have heard about.

Which ARP rod bolts did you use? I am looking into that right now too.
