Cheap oil is better than no oil. I have actually heard that certain bactches of Supertech have been pretty good. I think they rotate to the lowest bidding manufacturer to fill the bottles.

penzoil platinum full synthetic with lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer and a delco filter. 120,000 miles of beating the ever living crap out of it and still running like a champ
When i take the valve covers off to do my cam swap ill be sure to let ya know if there is any build up
But when i do get my LS1 i am going to put mobil 1 in it though.

I used to run M1 in one of my 5.0 stangs back in the day.
Granted, it was only $2.20 a qt then.
Ever since its been pushing $6qt, I cant justify running it.
I run Havoline 5w30.
I honestly dont see the advantage at all. If you change oil every 3,000mi, you could very well use the cheapest **** on the market, and the eigine still go 200k without issues. (assuming that the engine was put together correct from the factory)
Most people dont keep a vehicle much over 100k, so where is the payoff?
Modern oil, even conventional, is light years ahead of the oil we had 30yrs ago, and even back then, 200k wasnt uncommon. I just dont see how paying $4 more a qt for something that will never pay you back is anything close to advantageous.
Think about it, at an extra $4 a qt, if you change every 5,000miles, you could damn near pay for an entire rebuild at 100k, just off the money you saved by NOT using some uber-pimp oil.
And thats assuming that you will need a rebuild, which you wont.
On that same note, I had one Stang that I personally put 130k on. Ran plain ol Havoline 10w30. Ran the **** out of this car. Street racing damn near EVERY weekend for years. The guy I sold it to ran the ODO up to 190k before selling it. It now has nearly 240k on the odo. Original engine. I even had a 100shot on it for 30,000mi.
Explain to me how $6qt oil is doing anything for you? Is it the pretty purple color?
