I'm going to disagree alittle on the mileage part. Big part of that is in the tune and cam selection. But sure you can do a 408 for 5k. But a real 408 running 450+rwhp will run you much more. Don't forget the price of some GOOD heads. Add about $2500 to that $4000 408 shortblock. Oh and don't forget headers, intake conversion, custom tune, huge labor differance, loss of factory warranty, radiator swap, what else....

Prices reflect no labor....
Radix = 120+ rw for under $5300
408 = (a real done right 408 with good heads) 7 to 8k out the door with bolt-ons needed to get it to 450rw.

I like the radix, but a centrifugal would have been a better choice for a s/c IMO.
I thought about boring my 364 to a 408 but internal work tends to have more problems.

Besides, a bigger motor doesn't give you that badass whistling.

LoL Those are all good reasons I suppose. I was just curious as to why everyone here chose to supercharge. I can see in the near future how the price of a good 408 will come down especially now that the Z06 vettes are coming out with a 500 HP 427. I think I'm going to hold off on any power adders for two or three years, then start looking for some crashed 06 ZO6's. I would like to see a 427 sitting in one of our trucks with a T56. That to me would seem like it'd be worth the extra work of doing a motor swap rather than to bolt on a supercharger for the meantime. Vroom Vroom!!

I did an engine swap because I got it cheap as hell and could build it a little at the time. I'm not the type of person that could save $5k for a blower, but I could put a little here and there into a build.
