Cool Wich cam for my 02 5.7

I dotn know wich cam to choose. Different people have recommended different cams for different reasons. My truck is pretty much a daily driver, I want a noticeable cam sound with a good power band. I rarely tow anything and when i do its not above 500 lbs. I have a 5.7 out of a 02 vette, not the ls6. Im planning on doing cam, heads port and polish and valvesprings at the same time. also have a 2000 stall and a built tranny in mind. What do you guys recommend and if anyone has any suggestions, Im all ears. Keepin mind the alttitude in New Mexico sucks. thanks.

If its a DD, then I would say a 220/220 or 224/224 cam with about a 2600 stall.

I'd call Cam Motion (or someone else you feel comfortable about) and get a custom grind. Call them and tell them what your goals are and they can do a custom cam for you. They did one for me and I am extremely happy. I noticed an increase in performance throughout the entire rpm band. Just my opinion.

i run 11.1 with 243 casting heads, TSP Tv2 cam [232/234 .595/.598 112lsa, LQ9 bottom end, LS6 intake, 30svo,ported TB,1 3/4 mid lenghts, no cats, 410s, 3800 stall, tuned for 93. and it drove just normal on the highway cruised at 2200 rpms at 70mph. drove normal around town. under 1500 rpms i felt some bucking but not much to worry about. its when i got in it is when i felt the power. above 4k it was a beast.

do i recomend this for average person NO but can it be a DD YES!!. but you might get some attention from the local POPOs if you got a lead foot. truck idles at 800 to 900 rpms, runs about 130* on highway about 160* in city. motor runs about 190* consistant.

cam range is 1800 to 6400,
all this was installed in a RCSB, as for towing i dont think its possible with the converter i have[Fbody race] but to haul a bike or small load in the bed it will be fine

just my thoughts so you could go larger

For a daily driven cruise truck I'd go with a Thunder Racing or CompCams 224/224 cam that isn't too aggressive. That cam will also allow you to run a decent amount of nitrous or a mild (6psi or so) turbo or supercharger setup in the future. But it all depends on what your plans are in the long run. If you stay all motor a 224/224 should please you in sound and power, but if you want to run a power adder then you need to consider other combinations to work to its fullest potential.
