Re: wide band???
A wideband is an O2 (oxygen) sensor. The stock truck O2 sensors only work accutately in a certain air / fuel ratio. A wideband O2 accurately reads air / fuel in a much wider band of mix. This makes it an invaluable tuning tool. http://www.widebando2.com/FAQ_1.htm
If you buy one, you'll use your LS1 edit for tuning. It won't be much help on a near stock truck, but the more mods, the better you can get your truck running with one. It really helps tuning a major internal engine change as well as forced induction and nitrous.
A popular brand is the FJO unit. Parish8 has one, as well as several others. http://www.fjoracing.com/

Re: wide band???
Check these guys out http://wbo2.com/ they just released a new kit that uses a $28 O2 sensor instead of the $200+ one most kits use. I think you can get the whole 2.0 kit from these guys for about $400.

Re: wide band???
You will need the whole kit. Wideband O2's produce voltage between 0-5 while our stock O2's are only 0-1 volts.
It looks like you can hook up the wideband kit to your factory wiring harness in order to have the wideband AFR and provide the ECM with the proper signal 0-1 volts.
"Using the analog outputs, the LM-1X can be programmed to modify/condition the AFR/Lambda data normally used by an ECU (Engine Control Unit) to determine fuel injection curves. With the included LMD (dash-mountable display), the user can also monitor AFR and Lambda in real time." - http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/lm1x.php

Re: wide band???
creederado,
you know anyone with one of the innovative widebands? I read some really good stuff about it and am thinking about getting one.
The designer, Kraus, was answering questions on a Subaru Impreza board.

Nope, I just have been seeing it around more and more.
Seems pretty strait forward for the average tuner. I'm sure someone here will get one before fall.
