dont you mean a 4.8 crank? a set of milled 243s would let that cam work well and get the compression up. i would use a th350 (the th400 is heavier) and put bottle on it down the road

the glide was in the car so it was a "free" setup...

i think youd be alright with the stall and the light car runnin the glide. now what id do is put a diaper on that motor for if/when it scatters the bottom end at 140mph. 400 bucks for a replacement motor is awesome but potential disaster if you oil the track at those speeds. which im sure you know and hope it doesnt happen to you.

btw i think 10's are possible. runnin carb why not go on alcohol now? you will pick up the torque some. cut some extra weight by not having to run a rad if you dont want to either

i think he means 4.8 pistons cause they give you more compression...like the L33, in fact i think i remember reading that the L33 piston is the same partnumber as a 4.8....

im gona say it will run a 11.15 or so..... just a wild guess

I think that you'll get 10's...and I agree that a Powerglide isn't the best trans for a GM GenIII, but if the trans came with the car, run with it

Exactly. 4.8L pistons would bring the comression with the 862 head to around 10.5:1 or so. A 4.8L crank would just take cubes away, bad idea for power.
