I will have to measure my radiator. My Tahoe has the towing pkg so maybe it does have the 34" since every other cooler runs through it. What about e fans? I could run them ALL the time. I think the coated Pacesetter Lt's are part of the problem. Its damn hot under the hood now.

I am not saying that it did not work for you. my temps did drop the same but in the summer the fans are just not getting it done. Once I turn the A/C on they start climbing. I think Chris is having the same problem when he is running the A/C and running around town.

I wonder if the new fans that came with the 05 are a better fan than the flex-a-lite.

People that retrofit the 05 fans seem to have a little cooling issues but people that have 05s or newer dont seem too

I bought a shroud from an 03 Silverado SS and it fits the 34" radiator perfectly. Now I don't know if the clutch on the fan is working correctly - anyone know how to test it? I thought the fan used to make a louder noise when the clutch was locked up at start-up after sitting at idle for a minute, but I don't hear it do that.

Oh, and I already have a 160* stat. I have had overheating problems with both the stock stat and the 160.

With the 160 degree stat it is flowing faster to the radiator taking longer to heat up thunder. The way to test is turn the engine off, if the fan doesn't spin freely then there is something wrong, if it does it's fine. There may be less roar as the engine doesn't require as much air across the radiator to stay cool because there is more surface area to the radiator. if that makes sense??

It does spin freely, what I was worried about was whether or not the clutch would lock when it heated up enough.

I should not spin freely, as far as I know. is it cooling it though. I guess that would be the only way to really find out. If you need to I can send you my clutch fan and see if that solves the problem (if you have any).

Hmmm....I'll try to swipe the one from mom's burban tonight, but I'll keep it in mind that you have one. Thanks for the help!

A easy way to tell what radiator you have is by looking at the back side of the radiator support. There are four bolt holes total if yor'r radiator is being held in place by the outer holes it is the bigger 34", inner holes then it is 28".
The 05 fans use the inner holes on the 34" set-up.

BTW, I have installed the 34" and 05 fan setup, and a fan harness I made and the engine will run as cold as I command the fans to come on.

Thunder550, Your still haveing overheating problems? I have a extra water pump if you want to try it.....
