Default will these heads fit?

Just wondering if the 5.7 heads from a LS1 style vet or camaro will fit on a 4.8 or 6.0?

yes they will but if i am not mistaken, our heads work better for us. In fact most fbody guys prefer our heads over theirs. If you use the search button on here you'll find some discussions as to why not use them. Something to do with compression ratio i believe but not 100 percent sure.

i was plannin on putting a set of LS1 heads off of a WS6 and dropping a 3" pulley on it with Edit. but my buddy called magnacharger for me...and the recommended keeping my stock heads. they said just go with a 3" pulley and a tune and that theve ran as much as 13lbs on 5.3 stock heads. so looks like they saved me some $$$

You can still buy the heads and have em milled to raise the compression back up but 6.0L heads would be the way to go if you can get em cheap. They flow better than 5.7L heads but have larger chambers.

On a forced induction application you want the bigger cc's to drop static compression so you can safely run more boost without getting your efffective compression too high.

Obviously 13psi is doable on stock 5.3L heads but you'll be near max effective compression and running on the raged edge most likely. You could easily drop the compression some to be safe and add more boost/timing if you like. IMO

We'll see how my setup pans out with the new stock 6.0L heads I just put on. My compression should be around 8.7:1 now or a smidge lower.

what is the main benefit to using 6.0 aluminum heads over the stock 5.3 heads if it lowers the compression? I have a set of 6.0 heads for a 5.3. not sure if its worth it unless i find out otherwise. I also heard a rumor about the valves possibly interfering with the cylinder wall?? do not know if this is true.

I would also like to know, I am trying to get a complete 6.0 but I was wanting to put new heads on my 4.8 until I do so.

I'm doing a swap to #241 LS1 heads here soon....on a 6.0 they RAISE compression due to the 63cc combustion chambers (stock is 71cc), the LS1 heads outflow all but the #317 6.0 heads (I have the iron heads) but on a 5.3 or 4.8 the exhaust valves will be mildly shrouded resulting in a potential loss in flow

That benifit is for forced induction people like myself. The lower compression allows us to either run more boost OR run the same boost but with more safety.

For N/A applications you would want to mill them down. Not sure how much would be require to get em down to stock CR but lots of guys do it on the cars so I would think it would work. Otherwise you end up like me and have lots of money poured into a 5.7L head that had to be milled and welded up to get a 11.4:1 CR on my T/A.
