Default worked 862 casting heads....who has em'

I have a set of stock 862 5.3 heads, that I was thinking about getting them worked by a local guy that I have heard good things about. I wanted to know who has had a set worked over, p&p, larger valves, milled ect? what should I get done, and what should I stay away from? stock 5.3 with all bolt-ons, lt's,tsp220,4.10's,sst3600,maybe a tr224 in the works soon. I talked with the guy and he said to clean, bowl work, port work, larger stock 2.00 intake valves and a .020 mill was $600. I want more compression, tq/hp, ect. I like my broad tq curve. also going with a .040 head gasket. anyone got a compression calc. for this setup? thanks

I know most people mill off .030 with good results. I'll definately be tuning in to this thread Eric, as I'm interested in doing the same thing, aiming towards 10-10.5:1 cr.

If you send them to TSP they will do a 5 angle competition valve job, fully CNC port them, and re-assemble them for $650. Can't beat that.

does that include larger intake valves? stock valves should be ok right, unless I run n2o or fi. I give up the n2o for n/a, and I have no funds for fi till I pay my truck off(4 years).

Sorry, just now saw your post.

The cam feels great even untuned. It really liked the new injectors also. New times will be coming when I can buy/borrow slicks
