Working on 6.0L swap (found timing chain off a tooth on 5.3)
I got the 5.3 out, switched the valve springs and cam, and all the other goodies. I had to swithch a couple things that were different, like the oil pressure sensor. This motor is out of a van so I expected some things to be different. I just dropped the 6.0 in it's new home, before dinner.
One thing I noticed when I was pulling the cam out the 5.3L, was that I had the timing chain off one tooth. When I did the cam change last year I tried the chain back and forth to get the dots to line up perfect, but it always ended up in the same spot. It was dark too, and the timing chain is a long way down, but still.
Anyways the dot on the cam gear was left of the crank by half a tooth space. That means its retarded right, or does it mean I am retarded. That would explain the lack of low end, (I mean the cam retard not me).

Truck isn't running yet, but its getting close. It took alot longer then I thought to get the motor out. I've never changed gen III motor before, so it takes longer just figgering what has to come off and how. Its going in way faster then it came out. Now if I can just remember where all those wires go.
